DEF CON announced (and the cycle re-amplified April 16 through 22) that DC34 CTF is the first contest deliberately rebuilt for the agentic-AI era. The new organizing crew — Benevolent Bureau of Birds, UBC and CMU students and alumni, four-year term — said it plainly in the CTF Radiooo interview: AI tools beating challenges is no longer a novelty. At DC33 the team Blue Water learned mid-game that their agent had already solved a challenge before they did. BBB's mandate is to design DC34 hard enough to give agentic systems a run, knowing some teams will burn five thousand dollars in AI credits to one-shot a flag.
